Amazon delivery station in Bolton celebrates first Christmas

The Amazon delivery station in Bolton is celebrating its first Christmas. The 13,000 square metre building has been fully operational and serving customers across Bolton since October.

The delivery station at Logistics North, junction 4 on the M61, has created around 40 permanent jobs since opening, offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits and leading training and development opportunities in a safe, modern and engaging work environment.

The opening of the delivery station in Bolton has also created new driver opportunities for independent delivery service partners and Amazon Flex delivery partners.

Speaking ahead of the site's first Christmas, Amazon Bolton Delivery Station Manager, Nada Baki, said:

"We're excited to celebrate our first Christmas in Bolton. The team at Amazon in Bolton is ready to deliver for our customers ahead of a great festive shopping season, having also created local job opportunities across a wide range of disciplines in a safe and welcoming environment."

One of Amazon Bolton's employees who'll be helping deliver for customers this Christmas is Andrew Maxwell.

After a career in retail management, Andrew wanted a new challenge. He joined Amazon's delivery station in Bolton and quickly found that his new role offered a refreshing change to his existing expectations in retail management.

He said: "I joined Amazon because the company offers competitive pay, fantastic benefits and a host of training and development programmes to help me further my career. I love the diversity of my role, which means each day brings new challenges and limitless opportunities. I'm excited that our delivery station in Bolton is now open and I'm looking forward to helping put smiles on our customer's faces this Christmas."

Festive food giveaways, Christmas competitions advent calendar giveaways and Christmas Jumper days are just some of the things taking place throughout November and December as the delivery station team delivers for customers this Christmas.

The delivery station in Bolton has a fleet of around 50 Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles as part of Amazon's zero-carbon commitment.

In 2020, Amazon added more than 1,800 electric vehicles from Mercedes-Benz Vans to its EU delivery fleet, including more than 500 in the UK. Small, independent logistics companies who make Amazon deliveries in Bolton have access to around 50 zero-emission vehicles.

Delivery station power the last mile of Amazon's order process and help speed up deliveries for customers. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighbouring Amazon fulfilment and sortation centres, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.

Amazon is also offering entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex. Amazon employees receive competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.
