A man is being questioned by officers after a woman died in Bolton.
Police were called by the ambulance service at around 8.10am this morning (Wednesday 27 March 2019) to a house on Ramsay Avenue in Farnworth.
When officers attended, they discovered the body of a woman – believed to be in her 80s – and a man, aged 88, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A scene is in place at the house while officers conduct their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This morning we’ve sadly had to inform a family that their loved one has died.
“We will be supporting them through this extremely difficult time and thank the public for their patience as we continue with our investigation.
“While we question the man in custody, other officers will be at the house carrying out forensic examinations and other enquiries.”
