Community: Daisy Hill cricket club is 127 years old

A COMMUNITY cricket club has launched a £5,000 fundraising campaign to renovate and modernise its historic clubhouse.
Daisy Hill CC, founded 127 years ago, has already raised more than £3,000 through its Crowdfunding efforts.
The club has been at its present home since 1911 and remains a non-profit organisation which, as well as its sporting activities, acts as a community hub.
A spokesperson said: “We love our clubhouse, she’s like home for many but she needs a makeover and bringing out of the 90s and into the modern era. We want to renovate the club making her more energy efficient and modern, while preserving the history and love the members and community have given to her before us, to make her what she is today.
“We hope that the renovations of the club will not only provide better surroundings for our current members but will hopefully bring more members into the club and provide better facilities to potential new groups and users to bring the club even more into the heart of the wider community.”
